ReadyNas X6

Submitted by bill on February 8, 2006 – 8:28 pmNo Comment

ReadyNAS.jpgI bought a ReadyNas X6 for some additional storage. Over the last year my love affair with external enclosure firewire drives ended after I lost 3 of them to crashes. The ReadyNas X6 is a 4 drive standalone box and with the current SATA drives in it, it’s rated at 1 Terrebyte of data but because I have it set as RAID 5, which allows one of the drives to die and me not to loose date, it comes out at approx 750Gigs of usabable data.

Installation was plugging into the power strip and into my router it was up and running. It’s also on the network, so I can connect to it from any computer and backup data. I’ve become paranoid over the last 6 months of loosing all my digital photos, music and video that I’ve collected over the years.

Now all my files are safetly, cross fingers, stored on the ReadyNas…until I run out of storage.
